Inflammatory bowel disease is marked by significant clinical heterogeneity, posing challenges for accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment strategies. Conventional approaches, such as endoscopy and histology, often fail to adequately and accurately predict medium- and long-term outcomes, leading to suboptimal patient management. Artificial intelligence is emerging as a transformative force enabling standardized, accurate, and timely disease assessment and outcome prediction, including therapeutic response. Artificial intelligence-driven intestinal barrier healing assessment provides novel insights into deep healing, facilitating the discovery of novel therapeutic targets. In addition, the automated integration of multi-omics data can enhance patient profiling and personalized management strategies. The future of inflammatory bowel disease care lies in the artificial intelligence-enabled "endo-histo-omics" integrative real-time approach, harmoniously fusing endoscopic, histologic, and molecular data. Despite challenges in its adoption, this paradigm shift has the potential to refine risk stratification, improve therapeutic precision, and enable personalized interventions, ultimately advancing the implementation of precision medicine in routine clinical practice.

Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (GI-NETs) are slow-growing tumors with the potential for malignancy that originate from neuroendocrine cells. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment of GI-NETs are necessary to prevent metastasis. The widespread use of colonoscopy, which allows early detection of rectal neuroendocrine tumors (rNETs) that are small enough to be treated endoscopically, has resulted in an increasing rate of endoscopic resection of rNETs. However, whether the long-term prognosis of endoscopically resected rNETs is favorable has not yet been determined. This study aimed to assess whether endoscopically resected rNETs affect the long-term prognosis of patients.

Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing protein 3 (PNPLA3), transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2 (TM6SF2) and membrane bound O-acyltransferase domain containing 7 (MBOAT7) genes were reported to be strongly associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) pathogenicity among different populations. Gastrointestinal infections represent a worldwide public health problem. In Colombia, the incidence reaches 21.4 cases per 1,000 inhabitants. Given the limitations of traditional diagnostic methods in terms of sensitivity and specificity, the gastrointestinal panel (GIP) has emerged as a promising tool, allowing rapid detection of 22 pathogens. This study aimed to describe the clinical and microbiological characteristics of immunosuppressed and immunocompetent adult patients with diarrhea and the influence of the gastrointestinal panel in their treatment in a high-complexity hospital in Colombia.
