The Fontan operation improves survival in patients with single ventricle physiology but is associated with Fontan-associated liver disease (FALD), characterized by progressive fibrosis due to prolonged elevated central venous pressure. While 2D shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) can assess fibrosis, it often overestimates stiffness in congestive conditions. Doppler ultrasound, which evaluates hepatic hemodynamics, may complement 2D-SWE for fibrosis assessment. This study evaluated the diagnostic performance of Doppler ultrasound and 2D-SWE in assessing hepatic fibrosis in Fontan patients and compared the findings with biopsy-proven fibrosis severity.

Delirium frequently occurs as a severe complication among patients with acute pancreatitis (AP), contributing to extended hospital stays, higher mortality rates, and lasting cognitive deficits. The pathogenesis of delirium in this setting is strongly influenced by metabolic abnormalities, including disturbances in electrolyte balance and widespread inflammation. Although the albumin-corrected anion gap (ACAG) is a recognized indicator of metabolic dysfunction, its relevance to delirium in AP patients has not been adequately investigated.

Diverticulosis is the most common benign pathology of the colon. Genetics, inflammation, neuromuscular abnormalities, colonic motility and lifestyle including dietary habits play roles in disease pathogenesis. Coffee is one of the most commonly consumed beverages worldwide and exerts antiinflammatory functions in the human body as well as affecting colonic motility and neuromuscular physiology of the gastrointestinal system. Therefore, this study was planned to investigate the relationship between coffee consumption and diverticulosis.

Training deep learning systems in endoscopy generally requires vast datasets of annotated images, which are often scarce and costly to obtain. Foundation models are pretrained on large, diverse datasets and can be applied across a wide range of tasks with minimal additional fine-tuning. For endoscopy, foundation models require datasets of general endoscopic images. Yet, datasets for developing such models remain limited. In this study, we present GastroNet-5M, a dataset comprising 4,820,653 endoscopic images of ∼500,000 procedures.

Obesity is a well-established risk factor for gallstone formation, but traditional anthropometric measures (e.g., BMI, waist circumference) inadequately assess metabolically active visceral adiposity. The novel Metabolic Score for Visceral Fat (METS-VF) may better capture obesity-related metabolic dysfunction. We aimed to investigate the association between METS-VF and gallstone prevalence and compare its predictive performance against conventional obesity indices (WC, LAP, VAI) in a U.S. national cohort.
