PMR frequently co-occurs with GCA. So far, a simple biomarker for detecting concomitant arterial inflammation in PMR patients is lacking. Furthermore, biomarkers predicting disease course in PMR are awaited. We here investigated the diagnostic and prognostic value of acute-phase markers (ESR, CRP, IL-6, serum amyloid A) and angiogenesis markers (VEGF, soluble Tie2, angiopoietin-1, angiopoietin-2) in isolated PMR and PMR/GCA overlap patients.

The inflammatory idiopathic myopathies (IIM) are a group of rare autoimmune diseases defined by muscle weakness and characterized by pro-inflammatory infiltrates in muscle. Little is known about the immunological profile in peripheral blood of these patients and how this relates to IIM subtypes. This study aimed to stratify adult and juvenile-onset IIM patients according to immune cell profile.

SS is an autoimmune condition characterized by systemic B-cell activation, autoantibody production and ectopic germinal centres' formation within the salivary gland (SG). The extent of SG infiltrate has been proposed as a biomarker of disease severity. Plasma levels of CXCL13 correlate with germinal centres' activity in animal models and disease severity in SS, suggesting its potential use as a surrogate serum marker to monitor local B-cell activation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential role of CXCL13 as a biomarker of SG pathology in two independent SS cohorts.

aPL are present in between 20 and 30% of patients with SLE. They can cause vascular events (VE) or pregnancy morbidity. aCL and anti-beta-2-glycoprotein I (anti-β2GPI) are measured in clinical practice. Domain I (DI) of β2GPI is the main site for aPL binding. We investigated the prevalence of IgG anti-DI, aCL and anti-β2GPI antibodies in early SLE and their association with mortality and development of VE.

Data collected during routine clinic visits are key to driving successful quality improvement in clinical services and enabling integration of research into routine care. The purpose of this study was to develop a standardized core dataset for juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) (termed CAPTURE-JIA), enabling routine clinical collection of research-quality patient data useful to all relevant stakeholder groups (clinicians, service-providers, researchers, health service planners and patients/families) and including outcomes of relevance to patients/families.

HCQ is frequently used to treat primary SS (pSS), but evidence for its efficacy is limited. HCQ blocks IFN activation, which is present in half of the pSS patients. The effect of HCQ treatment on the expression of IFN-stimulated genes (ISGs) was studied in pSS. Furthermore, HCQ-treated patients were stratified based on IFN activation and differences in disease activity and clinical parameters were studied.

In primary SS (pSS), clinical features in SS can be divided into two facets: the patient perceived manifestations such as dryness, pain and fatigue, and the systemic manifestations. In the past decades, with efforts made by an international collaboration, consensual clinical indexes were developed for assessing both facets: one patient reported outcome, the EULAR SS Patients Reported Index (ESSPRI), and one activity index for systemic manifestations, the EULAR SS Disease Activity Index (ESSDAI). In addition, objective measures were developed to quantify the importance and consequence of ocular and oral dryness, few being specific of pSS. Work is ongoing to develop indexes combining all these approaches. Recent changes in the assessment of pSS patients, and the emergence of new targeted therapies, have put a greater emphasis on the design of clinical trials in pSS, and led for the first time to a positive randomized clinical trial.

7340. Arthritis self-efficacy beliefs and functioning among osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis patients: a meta-analytic review.
The Arthritis Self-Efficacy Scale (ASES) is a widely used self-report measure of beliefs reflecting confidence in one's capacity to function despite pain and control pain or other symptoms of arthritis. Despite evidence linking higher ASES scores to lower levels of impairment, pain and emotional distress, numerous modest, non-significant associations have also been observed. In this meta-analysis, we evaluated overall associations between ASES scores and adjustment in RA and OA samples as well as potential moderators that may explain the heterogeneity in these associations.
