PsA is characterized by enthesitis, synovitis and osseous involvement in the peripheral and axial joints. Few studies have examined axial involvement in PsA using imaging techniques. Here we examined axial involvement in PsA patients using MRI. In addition, we determined the efficacy of 24 week adalimumab treatment in improving the MRI findings of spondylitis and sacroiliitis.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory arthritis primarily affecting the spine and sacroiliac joints. TNF inhibitor (TNFi) drugs are recommended for patients not responding to NSAIDs; however, there is a significant need for biomarkers of response. IFN-regulated genes (IRGs) and other cytokines/chemokines are linked to autoimmune diseases and have been associated with treatment response. Our objective was to explore whether IRGs and cytokines/chemokines can be associated with response to TNFiagents in AS.

Inclusion body myositis is the most frequent myositis in patients older than 50 years. Classical immunosuppressants are ineffective in treating inclusion body myositis, and to date there are no recommendations for pharmacological approaches to treatment. When used after organ transplantation, sirolimus can block the proliferation of effector T cells, while preserving T regulatory cells, and induce autophagy, all of which are processes that are impaired in inclusion body myositis. In this pilot study, we aimed to test the efficacy of sirolimus in patients with inclusion body myositis.

Patients with SLE have increased cardiovascular mortality. Alterations in both macro- and micro-circulation have been associated with cardiovascular disease. We sought to assess skin microvascular function by using laser speckle contrast analysis (LASCA) in patients with SLE, with and without cardiovascular disease and risk factors.

Carpal tunnel decompression surgery to treat carpal tunnel syndrome is a common procedure, yet data on safety and effectiveness of the operation in the general population remain scarce. We aimed to estimate the incidence of reoperation and serious postoperative complications (requiring admission to hospital or further surgery) following carpal tunnel decompression in routine clinical practice and to identify the patient factors associated with these adverse outcomes.
