Inflammatory bowel disease is characterized by defects in epithelial function and dysregulated inflammatory signaling by lamina propria mononuclear cells including macrophages and dendritic cells in response to microbiota. In this review, we focus on the role of pattern recognition receptors in the inflammatory response as well as epithelial barrier regulation. We explore cytokine networks that increase inflammation, regulate paracellular permeability, cause epithelial damage, up-regulate epithelial proliferation, and trigger restitutive processes. We focus on studies using patient samples as well as speculate on pathways that can be targeted to more holistically treat patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Rectal adenocarcinoma is one of major public health problems, severely threatening people's health and life. Cox proportional hazard models have been applied in previous studies widely to analyze survival data. However, such models ignore competing risks and treat them as censored, resulting in excessive statistical errors. Therefore, a competing-risk model was applied with the aim of decreasing risk of bias and thereby obtaining more-accurate results and establishing a competing-risk nomogram for better guiding clinical practice.
4217. Contribution of classification based on ferroptosis-related genes to the heterogeneity of MAFLD.
Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a highly heterogeneous disease and its heterogeneity might be associated with ferroptosis because ferroptosis plays an important role in the development of MAFLD. We aimed to perform integrative analysis of ferroptosis related genes and MAFLD subtypes using bioinformatics.

Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) is a common digestive disorder, of which the prevalence decreased in the past few decades. However, the decreasing tendency has plateaued in recent years due to changes in risk factors associated with the etiology of PUD, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use. In this study, we investigated the epidemiological and the sociodemographic characteristics of PUD in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2019 based on data from the Global Burden of Disease, Injuries and Risk Factors (GBD) Study.

Type 2 isolated dextrogastria in conjunction with protrusion of the right hemidiaphragm and hiatal hernia is an uncommon anomaly among all transpositions of the viscera. Clear diagnosis is not straightforward in such cases both clinically and with various imaging techniques leaving often only laparotomy for diagnosis.

Liver injury related to Graves' Disease (GD) includes hepatotoxicity of thyroid hormone excess, drug-induced liver injury, and changes resulting from concomitant liver disease. Methimazole (MMI) has been shown to induce several patterns of liver injury. However, the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) overlapping with either GD or chronic hepatitis B are challenging.
