There is increasing evidence for the involvement of vascular disease in the pathogenesis of knee OA. Popliteal artery wall thickness can be used as a surrogate marker of atherosclerosis. We examined the association between popliteal artery wall thickness and knee cartilage volume in individuals with symptomatic knee OA.

Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 positive (anti-MDA5+) DM has a close relationship with rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RPILD) and is associated with high mortality. However, data regarding the time-dependent risk of RPILD and deaths during disease progression are limited. We conducted this study to investigate whether the risk of RPILD and death were time-dependent or not in anti-MDA5+ DM.

Chronic nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) is a rare inflammatory bone disease. The distinct CNO subtype that affects the anterior chest wall is descriptively named sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis (SCCH) and mainly occurs in adults. Literature on CNO/SCCH is scattered and lacks diagnostic and therapeutic consensus.

The antiphospholipid syndrome is defined by antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) together with arterial and/or venous thromboembolism and/or obstetric morbidities. aPL are overrepresented in SLE and acute myocardial infarction, but it is unknown whether aPL are associated with calcific aortic valve stenosis (CAVS) in the general population. The prevalence of aPL and other SLE-associated autoantibodies and their impact on aortic valve transcriptomics were therefore determined.

Four-and-a-half LIM domains 1 (FHL1) is a muscle-specific protein. Autoantibodies against FHL1 were recently discovered in adults with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) and were found to be associated with clinical features and outcomes indicative of increased disease severity. Anti-FHL1 autoantibodies have not been described in children. Here, the prevalence and clinical features associated with anti-FHL1 autoantibodies were examined in a large North American cohort of juvenile patients with IIM.

To assess the feasibility of reduced cyclophosphamide dosing in the setting of mobilization chemotherapy prior to high dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation in patients with SSc. The primary end point was the occurrence of 'poor mobilization' when using different cyclophosphamide dosing. The second end point was to analyse potential risk factors for difficult stem cell mobilization in this cohort of patients with SSc.

The field of rheumatology has advanced significantly in recent years to provide rheumatologists with an extensive array of medications to combat rheumatic joint conditions. In contrast to an older era, when NSAIDs and other nephrotoxic agents were the mainstay of treatment, modern DMARDs vary considerably in their nephrotoxic potential and their use is not always precluded in populations with pre-existing chronic kidney disease (CKD). This review will explore in detail the safety and efficacy profiles of medications used to treat rheumatologic disease, specifically in the setting of CKD. Specifically, we discuss both traditional agents used, i.e. NSAIDs, CSs and conventional synthetic DMARDs, as well as novel biologic DMARDs and targeted synthetic DMARDs. Anti-gout prescribing in CKD is also reviewed. We aim to provide practical guidance to rheumatologists, nephrologists and general physicians when prescribing these medications in the setting of CKD.

The primary objective was to compare the effect of cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) to usual care on sleep efficiency, measured by polysomnography (PSG) immediately after the intervention at week 7.
