The COVID-19 pandemic has affected clinical services globally, including colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and diagnostic testing. We investigated the pandemic's impact on fecal immunochemical test (FIT) screening, colonoscopy utilization, and colorectal neoplasia detection across 21 medical centers in a large integrated health care organization.

Perforation and obstruction in colorectal cancer are poor prognostic factors. We aimed to evaluate the oncological outcomes of patients with colon cancer presenting with perforation or obstruction.

Calcification of abdominal lymph node is a common clinical phenomenon, but it is extremely rare to cause serious adverse clinical outcomes. In the present case, the ruptured hemorrhage of the oesophagogastric fundic varices occurred as a result of portal hypertension due to compression of the portal vein by calcified lymph nodes. The patient was treated with medication, interventional therapy, endoscopic therapy, and surgery, respectively and the four different treatment options for the bleeding are worth summarizing. The etiology of this case is extremely rare and is the first to be reported in the world.

Intestinal lymphangiectasia (IL) is a rare disease characterized by dilation of lymphatic vessels and leakage of lymphatic fluids into the intestinal lumen, causing depletion of lymphocytes, protein, lipids, fat-soluble vitamins, and electrolytes. Hypomagnesemia can occur in IL patients but is seldom discussed.

Gastric cancer, or stomach cancer, that originates in the inner lining of the stomach, was the fifth most common cancer and the fourth mortality globally, with over one million new cases in 2020 and an estimated 769,000 deaths. The molecular characteristics of gastric cancer has been complicated by histological and intratumor heterogeneity. The incidence of gastric cancer shows wide geographical variation. As the largest and highest region in China, Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau is one of the important global biodiversity hotspots. Here, we collect tumour and paired normal bio-samples from 31 primary gastric cancer patients from Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital, and discuss the molecular characteristics for gastric cancer patients living in plateau. They have more single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) located in chromosome 7 with C → T and G → A as the most common alteration types, barely share the cancer driver genes with western patients, and have no significant differences in various Chinese nation. These characteristics offers a great opportunity to further understanding the divergent mechanism of gastric cancer, increase the efficacy for diagnosis and prognosis, finally lead the optimal targeted therapeutics.

Capsule endoscopy (CE) provides a novel approach to evaluate obscure gastrointestinal bleeding. Yet CE is not routinely utilized in the inpatient setting for a variety of reasons. We sought to identify factors that predict complete CE and diagnostically meaningful CE, as well as assess the impact of inpatient CE on further hospital management.1 na d2 METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of patients undergoing inpatient CE at a tertiary referral, academic center over a 3 year period. We analyzed data on patient demographics, medical history, endoscopic procedures, hospital course, and results of CE. The primary outcome was complete CE and the secondary outcome was positive findings of pathology on CE.

Endocytoscopy (ECS) aids early gastric cancer (EGC) diagnosis by visualization of cells. However, it is difficult for non-experts to accurately diagnose EGC using ECS. In this study, we developed and evaluated a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based system for ECS-aided EGC diagnosis.
