We aimed to assess SSc mortality by age in the general population over the past five decades.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by vascular and fibrosing involvement of the skin and internal organs. In this study, we determined the prevalence and characteristics of radiological hands and feet involvements in Iranian SSc patients to identify the associations between clinical features and radiologic findings.

Disease activity monitoring in SLE includes serial measurement of anti-double stranded-DNA (dsDNA) antibodies, but in patients who are persistently anti-dsDNA positive, the utility of repeated measurement is unclear. We investigated the usefulness of serial anti-dsDNA testing in predicting flare in SLE patients who are persistently anti-dsDNA positive.

Joint involvement in SLE is the most frequent manifestation and shows a wide heterogeneity. It has not a valid classification and it is often underestimated. Subclinical inflammatory musculoskeletal involvement is not well known. We aim to describe the prevalence of joint and tendon involvement in hand and wrist of SLE patients, either with clinical arthritis, arthralgia or asymptomatic and compare it with healthy subjects using contrasted MRI.

The childhood-onset or juvenile idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (JIIMs) are a heterogenous group of rare and serious autoimmune diseases of children and young people that predominantly affect the muscles and skin but can also involve other organs, including the lungs, gut, joints, heart and central nervous system. Different myositis-specific autoantibodies have been identified that are associated with different muscle biopsy features, as well as with different clinical characteristics, prognoses and treatment responses. Thus, myositis-specific autoantibodies can be used to subset JIIMs into sub-phenotypes; some of these sub-phenotypes parallel disease seen in adults, whereas others are distinct from adult-onset idiopathic inflammatory myopathies. Although treatments and management have much improved over the past decade, evidence is still lacking for many of the current treatments and few validated prognostic biomarkers are available with which to predict response to treatment, comorbidities (such as calcinosis) or outcome. Emerging data on the pathogenesis of the JIIMs are leading to proposals for new trials and tools for monitoring disease.

RA is an autoimmune disease characterized by destructive polyarthritis. CD4+ T cells are pivotal to its pathogenesis, and our previous study revealed the expression of fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) is modulated by MTX treatment in CD4+ T cells of RA patients; however, the roles of FGFR1 in CD4+ T cells in the pathogenesis of RA is unclear. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to characterize FGFR1-positive CD4+ T cells in RA patients.

Blood dendritic cell antigen 2 (BDCA2) is exclusively expressed on plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) whose uncontrolled production of type I IFN (IFN-I) is crucial in pathogenesis of SLE and other autoimmune diseases. Although anti-BDCA2 antibody therapy reduced disease activity in SLE patients, its clinical efficacy needs further improvement. We developed a novel glucocorticoid receptor agonist and used it as a payload to conjugate with an anti-BDCA2 antibody to form an BDCA2 antibody-drug conjugate (BDCA2-ADC). The activation of BDCA2-ADC was evaluated in vitro.
