The importance of COVID-19 vaccination for patients on immunosuppressive (IS) medication has increased due to the high risk of severe disease or mortality. Different vaccines have varying efficacy rates against symptomatic COVID-19, ranging from 46.8% to 95%. The objective of this study was to examine the differences in anti-Spike IgG, anti-Spike IgA, and neutralizing antibody (NAb) activity between the inactive CoronaVac vaccine and the mRNA-based BNT162b2 vaccine in IS patients.

Whipple's disease (WD) results from infection of the bacteria Tropheryma whipplei (TW). This disease is characterized by macrophage infiltration of intestinal mucosa and primarily affects Caucasian males. Genetic studies of host susceptibility are scarce. Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain containing protein 2 (NOD2) is an innate immune sensor, resides mainly in monocytes/macrophages and contributes to defence against infection and inflammatory regulation. NOD2 mutations are associated with autoinflammatory diseases. We report the association of NOD2 mutations with TW and WD for the first time.

Leukocyte Ig-like receptor A3 (LILRA3) is a soluble receptor belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. Our previous studies demonstrated that LILRA3 is a common genetic risk for multiple autoimmune diseases, including RA. Functional LILRA3 conferred increased risk of joint destruction in patients with early RA. We undertook this study to further investigate the pathological role of LILRA3 in joint inflammation of RA.

Fibrotic interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a progressive lung disease characterized by loss of lung volume, resulting in a leading cause of death in patients with RA. Crucially, acute exacerbation (AE) of ILD shows higher morbidity and mortality with rapid deterioration of the lungs. However, a quantitative assessment for physiological changes at AE has yet to be performed. This study hypothesized that quantitative assessments of lung volume (LV) accurately indicate disease severity and mortality risk in patients with AE-RA-ILD.

Serum urate (SU) lowering with PEGylated uricases in gout can reduce flares and tophi. However, treatment-emergent anti-drug antibodies adversely affect safety and efficacy and the currently approved PEGylated uricase pegloticase requires twice-monthly infusions. Investigational SEL-212 therapy aims to promote uricase-specific tolerance via monthly sequential infusions of a proprietary rapamycin-containing nanoparticle (ImmTOR) and pegadricase.
